Welcome!

Welcome to our PERSONAL FITNESS CHALLENGE!

What: This is a workout challenge. This is to get us to commit to working out on a regular basis by using friendly competition and money to help motivate each other!

Who: Anyone who can commit to this and help others stay motivated.
When: This starts on November 7th, 2010 and ends on February 28th, 2011.

Details: You'll need to track the number of minutes that you spend working out (see details on what qualifies as “working out”) and send them into the tracker (Ashley) on a weekly basis. The tracker will then post them on our blog: http://mostminutesfitnesschallenge.blogspot.com so you can keep up with how everyone else is doing. This blog will also be a resource where you can post/view how other people stay motivated, or add your own tips and suggestions. This is a competition, but we want to help encourage one another to keep physical fitness as part of our lives to live a healthy life!!

Prize: Each person should send $10/month to Jessica Westlund where it will be kept in the monthly pot. At the end of the month, ½ of the pot will go to the person who has the most number of workout minutes. The other ½ of the pot will go into the “bank”, and each person will start over by sending another $10 to Jessica to start the next month. At the end of the challenge, the person with the most number of total workout minutes over the 4-month period will receive the money that has gone to the “bank”.

Reporting: On Sunday of each week, you should report your total number of workout minutes from the previous week to Ashley Hodapp. Those results will then be posted sometime on Monday or Tuesday of that week, so you can see how you're doing. At the end of the month, Ashley will post the winner for the month, Jessica will send them their hard earned winnings, and we'll all start over again for the next month. This means there will be 4 monthly winnings – given to the person with the most number of workout minutes each month, and one grand prize at the very end of the competition to the person with the most number of workout minutes for the entire competition.

Qualifications: In order to be fair and consistent in our reporting, the following things qualify as “working out”:
Walking
Running
Biking
Calisthenics (push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, etc)
Jump Roping
Shoveling
As a general clarification, this competition is to encourage to us to incorporate working out and healthy living as part of our daily lives, and not to use what we are already doing in our daily lives and call it “working out”. This applies to house work and yard work or other things that we already do as a part of our lives some of which even keep our heart-rate up for an extended period of time. The exception to this is shoveling snow...because for those of us who live in Northern Minnesota, THIS IS WORKING OUT!!!

Register: If you are interested in this Fitness Challenge, please contact Ashley to let her know no later then November 14th.

Thank you - and GOOD LUCK!!
